Alternative Provision
What is Alternative Provision?

When a child or young person is unable to access mainstream school for a variety of reasons, for example behavioural issues and school is deemed not appropriate at that moment in time, then a temporary alternative learning package can be introduced. This support package is called Alternative Provision which promotes re-integration back into mainstream education.

Alternative provision may be arranged by:

-
The local authority, when a permanent exclusion, illness or other reason, would prevent a child or young person receiving suitable education.
-
The governing body of a school, when a child or young person is either on a fixed-term exclusion or directed off-site in order to help improve their behaviour.

When children or young people require Alternative Provision for other reasons, the local authority should aim to secure suitable education by the earliest possible date.

Pro Youth can offer an Alternative Provision that focuses on promoting essential life skills. We aim to build confidence and resilience in our learners by offering them the chance to participate in a variety of group work and one to one sessions. Our workshops are needs led, challenging and user friendly and always promote re-integration back into mainstream school.
